Shabby Chic Office Makeover

Our Home

10 Feb
This one has been in the works for quite awhile friends! I have been wanting to redo this space for about a year now. I really could not figure out what to do with it. Since we moved in it was our “junk/throw all the unneeded things in here” room. I wish I had some photos of all our crap everywhere on the floor and unorganized, but thankfully I don’t have to embarrass myself or burn your eyeballs. Instead, I will share a photo of how gorgeous it looks now! I have truly enjoyed working in this space so far. Welcome to the Shabby Chic Office over at The Belmont Ranch.
In order to make this little blog of mine possible, I sometimes collaborate with small businesses and brands. Affiliate links are included and I have received product from Behr Paint & Raymour & Flanigan for this post. As always though, my opinions are 100% honest and my own!

It’s cozy, warm, and simple. I haven’t added all the final details; like installing a chandelier and finalizing what I want on the walls. I think I want to get one of those white chippy wooden chandeliers and put a vintage window on the wall. Before I get too into all the details about this space, let’s check out what the room looked like before we moved in, shall we?
And after…..
Eeeek! I cannot get over this makeover. The previous owners had two boys. I’m sure this room was perfect for them. But man oh man, did those curtains and that wall color drive me bonkers for [what felt like forever] a long 12 months. I finally chose the color Wheat Bread by Behr. I love the relaxing tone and how it has a true gray tone to it, rather than tan. It is the perfect shade of gray without being too dark or too light. We used the marquee product with a flat enamel sheen. I can’t believe it took us 12 months to even paint this room! Where does the time go?! Anthony and I have been super busy with other projects and the start of our fertility journey, that I was completely neglecting this space. Thanks to Raymour & Flanigan I was able to get this extra bedroom looking the way I had envisioned it to be, and it was finished faster than I expected thanks to the fast delivery.
When it was time to tackle everything, we painted all of the trim, baseboards, ceiling, and this large built-in cabinet that I am obsessed with. I organized all my crafting supplies in the baskets (baskets are my ish!) I believe this built-in cabinet is original to the house; which was built in 1950.
I have linked some sources for the photo above:
larger baskets (2nd row from top) // long media baskets (bottom row) //
home sweet home pillow // basket with liner&wheels  // basket with wheels // blanket

I have been so drawn to rugs lately. In our past homes, I didn’t usually buy them because I loved displaying our hardwood floors, but now I think they are a must-have in every room with hardwood floors. Rugs add texture and warmth to a space. I need to find one for our bedroom, which is another area I am working on (y’all know the list never ends!) I feel like it is difficult to find just the right rug, especially when shopping online. This rug that we got for the office is the perfect balance for my pretty, shabby-chic, vintage style. It has a shimmer to it when the light hits it and the distressed look is gorgeous. The lounge chair is really comfortable. Every office needs a little reading nook! The gray color breaks apart the rest of the white and tan tones.

At first I was torn while trying to decide on a desk, because I didn’t want anything too bulky or tons of drawers and cabinets. The desk I picked out is simply perfect. It has a white chippy base with a wood top, and is the perfect touch of glam. I also had the decor dilemma of which office chair to pair with it, because it did not come with a matching chair. The desk is a special order and only available online and not in the showroom. Then, I found an office chair on R&F’s website; however it was also a special order and not available in the showroom. I went with my gut and ordered the chair despite my doubt, and I am SO glad I did! I think they look awesome together. The wood doesn’t match to the exact same color, but honestly it is pretty close. While I was at Hobby Lobby the other day, I scored this adorable table that looks very similar to the colors of the desk.

An important goal of mine for 2017 is to focus on building my small business as a blogger. I am the type of person that sometimes just wants to sit in a creative space while I work, instead of doing my usual lounge on the couch or sit at the kitchen island. Having my own home office makes me feel more professional and inspired. As always, it was fun to design and decorate a new room.

I always love to hear what you guys think of our before and afters. Drop me a comment below to tell me what you think about this makeover. Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram and Facebook to see what else I add to this pretty shabby-chic office of mine, what room I’ll tackle next, or to hear more about our fertility journey.
xo,

This is such an easy way to make sourdough pasta! This is such an easy way to make sourdough pasta! No fancy pasta attachment required.

INGREDIENTS:
-3 cups of flour (I used freshly milled white wheat)

1. Place everything in mixer and until dough smooths out. Or create a well with flour, add eggs and starter and mix on the counter.
2. Let dough ferment for at least 30 min.
3. Divide into 8ish sections, dust counter with lots of flour, then roll as thin as possible.
4. Use a pizza cutter to cut pieces as desired. Make sure to be using lots of flour so nothing sticks!
5. Lay on a cooling rack or hang to dry for at least 30 min.
6. Boil water, add salt and once boiling cooking for 6-7 minutes.
