Painting with Nature; A Unique Painting Activity

Activities

7 Aug

As the weather has gotten nicer and warmer here in Mass, we’re taking most of our activities outside these last few months. When Layla started doing arts and crafts, the mess would drive me crazy. I would sit and tidy up as she would make messes until I realized how much kids thrive when there’s a mess! Layla really enjoys getting dirty and has the best time creating when I’m less worried about cleaning up and more into creating right beside her. When I get her crayons out or get an activity together, she always asks me or Anthony to do it with her. Lately, her favorite activity is painting and of course with that comes a mess, but I found a solution to be more relaxed about it. First off, take the painting outside!! And I found a detergent that is amazing at fighting 100% of stain types (bleachable, oily/waxy, enzymatic, particulate). We usually use natural and plant based detergents, but they aren’t always the best at getting stains out. I was excited to put the all® stainlifter® OXI liquid detergent to the test.

Painting with nature is such a simple art technique for kids and explores textures and patterns in an open-ended and fun way. So, the other day we went around our yard and collected a bunch of nature items. From sticks, flowers, leaves, pinecones, sea shells, the list is endless for items to use as a paint brush. Then, we grabbed some washable, water based paint and had a blast painting on some canvases! I really let Layla take the reins on this and she enjoyed it so much. I showed her to dip the flower and leaves in the paint and how to use them either like a stamp or a brush. This project was super easy with minimal set up, and it was fun to go out and search for items to paint with.

Of course after our painting session, Layla and I had paint all over us! She enjoyed the nature items but was also finger painting, so she kept wiping her hands on her shirt. Like I said, I normally would be freaking out that she had paint on her clothes, but all® laundry detergent came to my rescue! It took all the water based, washable paint off of our clothes and blanket and left them looking bright and smelling fresh. I’m thankful that now I don’t have to worry about what clothes my girls are wearing during an activity and we can focus on creating memories together, because I can rely on the all® laundry detergent to be there to clean up the mess. This is a product all mom’s need to get on board with! Let your kids be kids and create memories with them, and worry about the mess later. Head to Amazon to try all® stainlifter® OXI liquid detergent for yourselves, you can thank me later!

our time together as a family is a gift. and i wil our time together as a family is a gift. and i will never forget 6 years ago pleading to god to make us parents. he delivered 🙏🏼 and gave us four of the most beautiful children i could have ever imagined. 📸 @sadiecooperphotography
August 1st at 9:56am our Jaxson Jeremy was born at August 1st at 9:56am our Jaxson Jeremy was born at home, weighing in at 11 pounds!! 😍😅 ELEVENNNN pounds. Lol. We are all doing so well now, resting and settling into being a family of 6. 🫶🏻 I’m not quite ready to share our birth story just yet as we had some complications, but when the time is right I’ll record a YouTube video and share all the details. Until then, we’re soaking up all the newborn snuggles with our littlest love. Forever blessed for my growing family and the ability to birth these beautiful humans.
Yet again another child to be born after my “due Yet again another child to be born after my “due date” 🤪 Trusting in God’s timing is not always easy, but I’m trying. 💙 Dalton was my longest pregnancy at 43 weeks; this little guy better not make us wait another 2 weeks though! 😅 Layla was 40+5 (induced) and Gabby was 39 weeks (csection)

Ready for another beautiful home birth, whenever Jaxson is ready. 🫶🏻 At what gestation were your babes born?!
38 weeks with my little Jaxson Jeremy 💙 it’s 38 weeks with my little Jaxson Jeremy 💙 it’s crazy as I have more kiddos how fast the pregnancies go. I feel like I blinked and we’re almost here. Now to getting my ducks in a row! I’ve been nesting like crazy, deep cleaning my house, tending to the garden and just have to get my freezer meals prepped and I’ll be ready *i think* 😅 It’s funny because Dalton didn’t come until I was 43 weeks which is literally 5 more weeks from now…. I just might melt from the summer’s heat if I have to wait another 5 weeks 🤣 But for real, babies come when they are ready. No crazy natural inductions happening over here. Just patience. However, we’re ready whenever you are, my little man 🫶🏻
Garlic has quickly become one of my favorite thing Garlic has quickly become one of my favorite things to grow! Set it and forget it! I planted my garlic in October & it will be ready to harvest in July. Using the scapes in recipes is a great way to add garlic flavor and utilize the garlic before it’s ready to harvest. I planted both hard neck and soft neck, so I will save the hard neck varieties over the Fall/Winter and use the soft neck fresh. Have you ever planted garlic before?!
