It’s the beginning of August and I’m already talking about the Fall. I’m crazy, don’t you guys know this already? I pulled out the pumpkins for this post, but only a few I promise! I’ve been wanting to redo our bedroom for quite some time, but we’ve been busy doing every other room in the house. Why is it that our bedrooms are the last to get attention, but we spend 1/3 of our lives there! I just did a few simple things to refresh our bedroom and make it brighter and larger.
Our bedroom is fairly small. We live in a one floor ranch. We don’t have a master bath or walk-in closet. We did however have a huge headboard and footboard with mismatched night stands. I am starting to stray away from my matchy-matchy furniture. You know, the kind that you go to the furniture store and get the whole set? That kind. It’s bulky, has scratches all over it, and doesn’t quite fit my style anymore. Unfortunately, I’m a girl who shops on a budget and I wait until I can find a good deal to buy anything. I was thrilled to partner with World Market to give our bedroom a refresh just in time for Fall. We got rid of our bed, nightstands, and stripped out the decor. My super duper learn-as-we-go-handyman husband helped me bring a shiplap headboard to life, (more on that later) and I added new nightstands and some decor from World Market.
I love the neutral Fall vibes. Soft blues, grays and whites, neutral and wood tones, and simplicity. Refreshing your home for Fall can be really easy. Find a color tone you want to stick with and start there. After I decided color hues, I decorated with a tote basket filled with a plant, some cute pumpkins, vintage books, some greenery & antiques I had around, and a macrame plant hanger. You can do as little or as much decor as you want. I stayed pretty minimal because well, this is our bedroom, and I am craving simplicity lately!
Our new night stands are perfect and are great for styling up the room a bit. I love the color of them, a dark weathered gray. I created cute vignettes on them to add height and texture since we don’t have lamps yet. Like I said, this is our room in progress people! Small rooms are harder to work on since there is less space to work with. By getting rid of our curved headboard/footboard and mismatched nightstands, we were able to make the space seem larger and more cohesive. Here’s an idea of what our room looked like a few months ago.
And after, with a new headboard and matching nightstands:
I also love to add tons of throw pillows on my bed to make it cozier and to add more texture. I created lots of texture and variety by adding this adorable pillow with the others. I was going for a simple farmhouse chic vibe in our room, and I believe what we created is just that!
