Baseball or Ballet Gender Reveal Party

Pregnancy

27 Jan

Okay guys, I’m finally spilling the beans all about our gender reveal! It only took me 10 weeks to get this post up.. whoops! When I was 10 weeks, we decided to do a blood test that detects if there are any abnormal chromosomes within the baby, and it also determines the sex of the baby too. We have been waiting SO long to have our baby, that there was no way we were waiting until birth to find out the gender. God bless couples that can wait that long, but I’m a preparer and we both wanted to know ASAP. We waited until I was 12 weeks to have our gender reveal party. It was so much fun planning the party and of course finding out the gender of our BABY GIRL!!

We went with a “Baseball or Ballet” themed party and it was awesome. To reveal the gender, I bought these baseballs which had blue and pink powder in them. My two sisters knew the results of the blood test, and they were the ones who handed me the correct ball to throw to my husband.

Now on to the fun stuff, how I decorated and made it entertaining! My sister and I made a few chocolate dipped treats (oreos, strawberries, and pretzels.) Then, I decorated the table with them and some pink and blue candy as well. I put up a poster board for everyone to cast their votes on whether they were team boy or team girl. We also had blue and pink necklaces so our family and friends could wear their guess! In lieu of gifts, I asked everyone to bring a book to start the baby’s library. I also did a diaper raffle and put together a little prize for the winner so that we could start our diaper stock pile.

From the beginning we had said we believed it was a boy. I had dreams of a little boy, but then the night before the reveal, my husband had a dream that it was a girl! And sure enough, our little Layla Jean will be here in May. Here’s a video of us finding out.

And just a few photos taken right after we found out!

Gender reveal parties are so fun and exciting! I was so nervous throwing the ball to Anthony, my heart was pounding through my chest. Have you ever been to a gender reveal party before? Have you hosted one? I’d love to hear how yours went or if you have any questions at all, drop them in the comments!
